Major Rangers injury boost as Kemar Roofe return timeline set

Kemar Roofe could return for Rangers next weekend after no significant injury was identified in a scan.

The Ibrox striker was sent for an assessment this week after being forced off in the midweek Viaplay Cup win over Livingston.

Roofe had felt an issue in his groin during the match and was taken off as a precaution at the break.

However, in a major boost for Michael Beale, Roofe has not suffered a serious injury and could even return in midweek.

He told BBC Sportsound: "Fingers crossed Kemar will be available again for next weekend, so that's good news.

"There was nothing really significant on the scan so it looks like it was a good decision to come out.

"He'll miss today and may not be risked next week but he could be back for St Mirren."

Roofe sits out for the match against Aberdeen this afternoon with Todd Cantwell, Danilo, Kieran Dowell, Nico Raskin, Tom Lawrence and Rabbi Matondo also sidelined.

On the injury issues at Ibrox, Beale added: "We have got seven injuries at the moment and they have all come via games and they are all people who would play in the top five positions which makes life really difficult.

"Certainly, when you look at our bench maybe only Scott Wright and Zak Lovelace - who is back from a hamstring injury himself - so we are a little bit light in that [forward] area.

"The backend of the pitch we seem to have everybody available so maybe that is why the clean sheets are there."
