There are major rail delays affecting some services from Edinburgh this morning after a person was struck by a train in Fife.

Shortly before 7am ScotRail announced: "Sadly, due to a person being struck by a train between Glenrothes & Inverkeithing, our services have been disrupted. We're working closely with the emergency services."

ScotRail services from Edinburgh to destinations in the Fife circle, as well as services between Edinburgh to Perth are experiencing "major" disruption with a raft of services cancelled.

ScotRail tweeted: "Services between Edinburgh-Cowdenbeath, Edinburgh-Glenrothes with Thornton (Via Dunfermline Town) and Edinburgh- Glenrothes with Thornton (Via Kirkcaldy) will be affected this morning."

Passengers travelling to Aberdeen from Edinburgh may also be affected by "minor" delays this morning.

Train tickets are being accepted on local bus services in Fife and a ticket acceptance in place with Stagecoach East buses.
