Major power outage in Dublin as over 5,000 homes affected

Parts of Dublin are in darkness this evening as the ESB is working to repair a fault in its system.

The company took to social media to confirm that power outages were being experienced across Clontarf in North Dublin.

Surrounding areas in Dublin 3 and Dublin 5 are also experiencing issues associated with the outage.

Nearly 5,000 customers are affected by the cuts in Fairview, as ESB Tweeted saying; “We have a fault in the Clontarf and surrounding areas of Dublin 3 and Dublin 5.

“We are working to repair as quickly as possible.

“Apologies for the inconvenience.”

The power cuts kicked in at about 6.15pm this evening, but supply was due to be back up and running by 8.15pm tonight.

Another fault was reported this evening in the North Quay area, where 515 customers have been affected.

The outage occurred at 6.20pm this evening, but power won’t be back until around 10pm tonight according to the ESB.
