They were called to an incident near Caerau Lane and a large police presence was said to have remained at the scene for most of the afternoon. People have also described seeing a cordon in place near the area.

A spokesman for South Wales Police said: "South Wales Police was called just before 4.55pm on Tuesday, January 4, following reports of a 16-year-old boy having sustained serious injuries in the Caerau area of Cardiff.

A spokesman for the Welsh Ambulance Service confirmed staff were also alerted to the incident but the team left the scene after it was discovered their services weren't required.
