A large emergency response was sparked after a man became trapped on a steep slope in a Wigan woodland in the early hours of the morning.
Witnesses reported spotting as many as ten police cars at the scene along with ambulances and several fire engines, at around 12.30am this morning (Saturday) in Porters Wood, off Ackhurst Lane.
Officers were seen walking through fields and using drones in what appeared to be a search of the woodland area.

One witness, who lives near the scene, said residents were told to remain inside their homes.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire Service said crews were asked to assist paramedics who had been called to help a man trapped on a hillside.
"At 12.30am early this morning (Saturday) the North West Ambulance Service requested our help to rescue a person from Porters Wood, on Ackhurst Lane, Wigan," they said.
"A person had become unwell at the bottom of a very steep embankment.

"Two fire engines from Wigan and Hindley stations. one technical rescue unit from Leigh and the aerial appliance from Stretford attended manage the complicated risks.
"Firefighters were able to rescue the casualty by hand in around an hour and an ambulance took him to hospital."
The condition of the injured man is currently unknown but he is being treated in hospital.
