Major police operation on street to arrest wanted man

A large police operation involving three cars and two police vans resulted in a “wanted” man being arrested on suspicion of a number offences.

Police swooped on a property in Simonswood Lane in Kirkby to make the arrest on Wednesday morning.

A 26-year-old man was detained on suspicion of harassment, witness intimidation, theft and disclosing indecent images, the force said today.

After a further search of the property was carried out, the man was further arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled drug and burglary.

He was taken into custody while investigations are ongoing.

A spokesperson said: “We attended a property in Simonswood lane in Kirkby this morning to arrest a wanted male.

“We arrested a 26-year-old man on suspicion of harassment, witness intimidation, theft and disclosing indecent images.

“A search of the property was carried out and the man was further arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled drug and burglary.

“He is currently in custody.”
