Major police investigation after stabbing in south west market town

A major investigation is underway by Avon and Somerset police after a violent incident in the town of Frome last night.

A man in his 20s received a number of stab wounds in the incident, which happened in Vallis Way in the town.

It happened at around a quarter to midnight last night, Friday, July 24, and police began a big inquiry.

The victim was treated by paramedics at the scene and was taken to hospital by ambulance - his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening and he's in what is described as a stable condition in hospital.

The attackers had left the scene before the police arrived, and officers immediately set up a cordon around the area.

Today, Saturday, officers are conducting house to house inquiries and reviewing CCTV cameras from the area. Extra patrols will also be in place around Frome.

"Anyone who has any information about what happened or the persons involved is asked to call 101 and give the call-handler reference 5220165579," said a police spokesperson.
