Major police incidents on Skye as woman injured and man arrested

Police say locals in the Highlands are not at risk following a "contained" incident on Skye and in the village of Dornie.

Officers were made aware of a woman injured at a property in the Tarskavaig area of the island shortly before 9am on Wednesday August 10. They were later called to incidents on Teangue on Skye and in Dornie, around 10 miles east of the Skye Bridge.

A 39-year-old man has been arrested in connection with all three incidents. Police Scotland now says there is "no risk" to the wider community following the arrest.

Ian Blackford, MP for Ross, Skye and Lochaber, said the incidents were "very concerning", adding that his thoughts were with those affected. He said: "As more details come to light, the response of the emergency services seems to have stopped this incident spreading even further than it did. Thank you for the work that you do.

"The victims of these crimes will, I'm sure, remain in all our immediate thoughts."

A Police Scotland statement read: “We were made aware of a woman injured at a property in the Tarskavaig area on Skye shortly before 9am on Wednesday, August 10.

“Police are also attending two further incidents in Teangue on Skye and Dornie which are being linked.

“A 39-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incidents.

“At this stage we believe the situation is contained and there is no risk to the wider community. Enquiries are ongoing.”
