Major police and ambulance presence after man dies in front garden

A man has died after collapsing in the front garden of a house in Speke.

Police and ambulance crews were called to Dymchurch Road at around 3.30pm on Friday after a man collapsed in the front garden of a house on the road.

Residents in the area reported that there was a major police and ambulance presence at the scene before the man in his 40s was taken to hospital.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police later confirmed that he had died.

The death is currently being treated as unexplained but it was suspected that the man had suffered a cardiac arrest.

A statement from the force said: "We are investigating following the unexplained death of a man in Speke today (Friday 26 April 2019).

"Emergency services were called to Dymchurch Road shortly before 3.30pm to reports a man, aged 46, had a suspected cardiac arrest in the front garden of a property.

"Paramedics attended and he was sadly pronounced dead at hospital a short time later."

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of his death, and to formally identify the man and inform his next of kin.

At this time officers are treating the death as unexplained and a post mortem will take place to establish the cause of death.
