Major plans for 350 homes attached to proposal for food and drink outlets on outskirts of Ayrshire town

As many as 350 new houses could be coming to the outskirts of Ayr.

Ayrshire Live can today reveal how the proposed development also includes shops, food and drink outlets and offices to the east of the town.

A 29-hectare parcel of land near the Holmston Old Toll, on the eastern side of Holmston Roundabout, Ayr, has been identified for the site and is described as a “major development” by the agents.

Behind the plans are Glasgow-based property consultancy firm Iceni Projects Ltd, who say they’ve submitted a Proposal of Application Notice to South Ayrshire Council, on behalf of their client James Craig Ltd.

They are seeking planning permission in principle for a “residential development” for as many as 350 homes, along with class 1 “commercial developments” such as retail and class 2 “professional services” along with class 3 food and drink outlets- as well as office space- along with associated access, landscaping and drainage works.

A copy of the proposals is understood to have been sent to Forehill, Holmston and Masonhill Community Council and Annbank and Coylton Community Council for their perusal.

A dedicated webpage will be created to display information on the project and will provide details on how to engage with the proposals.

This will be available to view and access freely from Monday, October 18 and the website will be accessible at: www.HolmstonOldToll.co.uk

Gary Mappin, director, planning, at Iceni Projects Ltd, said: “A live interactive web-based consultation will also take place on Thursday, October 21.

“During the live event, members of the design team will be available to answer questions submitted by email or to take phone calls via a dedicated email address and phone number provided on the web page.”

Feedback forms will be available on the website which can be completed and submitted to the project team for up to 21 days following the consultation event.
