Another person reported seeing armed police at the scene.
"The amount of people standing around asking questions not leaving!? Just run man!" a third wrote.
The British Transport Police have tweeted within the last hour: "Officers were called to #LondonBridge station at 12.33pm today following reports of a suspicious item on board a train.
"The station has been closed as a precaution while specialist officers assess the item.
