There are plans for better facilities at Edwalton Golf Course including a new driving range.
Rushcliffe Borough Council has confirmed the centre will be supported with possible further new investment "as it is retained as an important community facility".
The centre, on Wellin Lane, has also been identified as an option for residential development in the future - but this may not be until at least 2038, according to the council.
New plans will also now explore ecological improvements and bio-diversity gains on its main nine-hole course in line with the Council’s Climate Change Strategy objectives.
This could include projects such as woodland diversification and enhancement, rough enhancement, rewilding and pond management through improvement management and partnership working.
Simon Robinson, Leader of Rushcliffe Borough Council, said: “It’s important we clarify Edwalton Golf Centre will be retained as an important community facility and we are looking to the future with possible further investment.
“Membership and usage has increased to the highest level since 2015 and the club was well placed from previous funding to meet a rise in golf participation nationally recently, as one of the first sports to be allowed to be played when COVID-19 lockdown restrictions were eased.
“There is likely to be sufficient housing supply in the Borough to 2038 without the need to allocate this site within the Greater Nottinghamshire Strategic Plan and therefore it’s important to assess where we can continue to invest in the site.
“We continue to encourage residents to use the course and the facilities not only so it retains its financial viability but more importantly it is a great way to stay healthy and meet people.”
Five tee boxes are currently being re-turfed on the site in preparation for the new golf season.
