Major gas works will cause travel problems on a busy Midlothian road for the next ten weeks.
Teams from SGN will be in attendance at Newbattle Road from today (Monday) to replace old metal gas mains with new plastic pipes to ensure a "continued safe and reliable" supply to homes and businesses in the area.
However there will be some delays on the route while the project is undertaken, with temporary traffic lights and parking suspensions introduced.
Signals will be in place on Newbattle Road between Abbey Road and Eskbank Road as the northbound lane closes.
Traffic lights are also introduced on Abbey Road and Park Road at their junctions with Newbattle Road.
Parking suspensions are in place on both sides between Dalhousie Road and just east of Abbey Road and also on Abbey Road and Park Road near their junctions with Newbattle Road.
Midlothian Council say that signed diversions will be in place for motorists, while access for local residents and businesses will be maintained where possible.
