Major fire on Lancashire street as air ambulance lands at the scene

Emergency services tackled a major fire on a quiet residential street in Lancashire today. According to reports, an air ambulance landed close to Gorse Avenue, Thornton-Cleveleys, as huge plumes of smoke billowed into the air.

Images showed thick black clouds almost completely consumed one property. Fire crews attended and members of the public were advised to avoid the area. Multiple engines were sent to the scene as well as police officers helping to enforce a cordon, Lancs Live reports.

Residents have also reported seeing an air ambulance land on nearby Northumberland Avenue. LancsLive has contacted Lancashire Constabulary, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and North West Ambulance Service for more information which will be bring as soon it becomes available.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Six fire engines from Fleetwood, Bispham, Blackpool, South Shore and St Annes, and an aerial ladder platform from Preston attended a fire involving two houses on Gorse Avenue in Thornton Cleveleys. Firefighters used two jets and one hose reel to bring the fire under control. One casualty was rescued from one of the properties. Two fire engines and the aerial ladder platform remain at the incident."

Lancashire Constabulary's force incident manager confirmed that the fire has broken out at residential property.
