Major fire in Glasgow's Hydepark Street as blaze breaks out in car park

Firefighters have raced to the scene of a blaze inside a car park in Glasgow city centre.

Around four appliances rushed to the incident on Hydepark Street at around 5.30pm on Friday.

Smoke billowed out of the building as fire officials put their efforts into a vehicle that appeared to be up in flames.

Emergency services taped off the road as crews try to bring the fire under control.

It is unclear if the flats above will be evacuated as a result of the incident.

Police vehicles were also spotted on the scene.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "We were called to a vehicle fire on Lancefield Quay at around 5.30pm.

"No one was in the vehicle at the time of the fire and no one was injured in the incident."
