A major road through Falkirk is to remain closed for the "foreseeable" after a massive sinkhole appeared last week.
It had been hope that Bellsdyke Road in Larbert between Tryst Road and Hamilton Road would be able to reopen under a two-way traffic light system, but specialists say that's now not an option.
Emergency services rushed to the scene shortly after 6pm on Tuesday October, 19, after reports a section of pavement has collapsed.
Scottish Water sent their engineers out to investigate the problem - which is believed to have been caused by a leaking water pipe.
They asked for permission from Falkirk Council to partially reopen the road on Friday, but that was rejected.
A Scottish Water spokesperson said: "Bellsdyke Road has remained closed at the request of the local authority.
"They have explained that due to other traffic management in the area, this is the best way to ease local congestion.
"Our teams are continuing to work to repair the sewer. This is a challenging repair due to its size and condition.
"We appreciate the frustration that the traffic disruption is causing the community and thank them for their patience and understanding."
A Falkirk Council spokesperson said: "There are already a number of existing temporary traffic lights within the vicinity.
"We took the decision to instruct that the closure remained in place as drivers were already used to this and a further set of temporary lights would have added to stop/start local congestion.
"Local traffic can use the new roundabout from Hamilton Road into Kinnaird and exit at Tryst Road."
It's now not known when the road will reopen.
