Major emergency response with cordon in place as fire crews scrambled to house blaze

A large emergency response was prompted after a house fire in Bury.

Six fire engines were scrambled to Dean Street in Radcliffe at around 7.30pm on Tuesday (10 August) to reports of the blaze.

The property was 'well alight' when crews arrived at the scene, Greater Manchester Fire Service said.

It is thought the blaze involved the roof space of the terraced house.

It is not clear if anyone has been injured.

The cause of the fire is not yet known, but GMFRS confirmed an investigation will take place.

Crews remain at the scene this morning.

Pictures from the scene show a police cordon at the back of the property, with a marked car guarding the scene.

One fire engine from GMFRS also remains outside the property.

A window at the front of the house appears to have been smashed, and the front door has been broken down.

A GMFRS spokesperson said: "At around 7.30pm yesterday evening (Tuesday 10 August) we received the first reports of a house fire on Dean Street, Radcliffe.

"Six fire engines from Farnworth, Whitefield, Bolton Central, Bolton North and Broughton fire stations attended, joined by an aerial platform.

"The fire involved the roof space of a terraced house and was well alight when crews arrived.

"Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reels and other specialist equipment to contain the blaze and tackle it in sectors before carrying out safety checks of neighbouring properties.

"GMFRS crews worked alongside colleagues from North West Ambulance Service and Greater Manchester Police who were also at the scene.

"Crews remain in attendance this morning, and an investigation will take place to determine the cause of the fire."

Greater Manchester Police have been contacted for more information.
