Major emergency response in South Shields as man found injured on street

Emergency services responded to reports of an injured person in South Shields on Tuesday afternoon.

North East Ambulance Service received a call at 4.13pm on Tuesday that a person was injured outside a house on Stanhope Road in South Shields.

The ambulance service sent a HART crew, a rapid response paramedic and an emergency ambulance team.

A man was then taken to Sunderland Royal for further treatment. An area on Egerton Road remains taped off by police.

A NEAS spokesperson said, "We were called at 16:13 this afternoon to reports of a person injured outside a private address on Stanhope Street in South Shields.

"We sent a HART crew, a rapid response paramedic and an emergency ambulance team and took one male patient to Sunderland Royal for further treatment."
