Major emergency response after man becomes trapped in rocks on Scots coast

Numerous emergency services raced to Kirkcaldy Esplanade this evening after a man became trapped in the rocks.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Police Scotland, the Scottish Ambulance Service and the coastguard all attended the incident just after 8pm on Monday.

Special equipment had to be used to cut the man free after his ankle became trapped in the rocks.

Fire fighters used hydraulic spreaders to release the man before paramedics took over.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "We attended an incident at the Promenade in Kirkcaldy.

"At 8.15pm we received a call requesting assistance after one male had become trapped on the rocks.

"We used hydraulic spreaders to release the gentleman's ankle and when he was released from the rocks he was passed to the care of the ambulance service at 8.39pm.

"We have now left."

Exact details of the mans injuries are not yet known.

Police Scotland have been contacted for comment.
