Major Edinburgh search operation launched after man falls into water during early hours

A frantic search and rescue mission has been launched in the north east of Edinburgh after a man fell into a water basin near the shore and is yet to be traced.

Emergency services, including the coastguard and a specialist team from the Scottish Fire and Rescue, are currently present at Victoria Quay, Leith, following reports of a man having fallen into a small area of water on Friday night.

Officers received the concerning call around 11:30pm on February 3, and confirmed the man is yet to be traced. A search remains ongoing with specialist crews, with the area around the government building cordoned off.
