Major Dundee road to close for resurfacing works this weekend

A major arterial route in Dundee is set to close at peak times this weekend so its surface can be improved for local motorists.

Greendykes Road, part of the A92, will close from 8am until 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday for resurfacing.

The dual carriageway road connects the Scott Fyffe Roundabout at the end of the Kingsway to Broughty Ferry Road along Dundee's southern edge.

BEAR Scotland's North East unit, responsible for the region's trunk roads, has apologised for any disruption ahead of the weekend's works.

However, it has promised a "safer and smoother" road surface once they are complete.

Ian Stewart, of BEAR Scotland, said: “This £80,000 investment from Transport Scotland will greatly improve and strengthen this section of the A92, as well as create a smoother and safer journey for motorists.

“Due to the nature of the works, it is necessary to close to the road to ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists.

"However our teams will do all they can to complete the project as quickly and as safely as possible."

He added: “We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the A92.

"We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”

Diversions will be put in place while the works are carried out, sending motorists along Arbroath Road and Strips of Craigie Road.

BEAR has pledged to recycle the old road surface once the works are complete.
