Major cyber attack on UK infrastructure and organisations 'carried out by Iran'

Elite Iranian cyber hackers hit vital sections of Britain’s infrastructure in a massive attack just before Christmas, it has been claimed this evening.

Spooks connected to Tehran’s Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps targeted private companies, especially banks and even obtained personal details of executives.

It is believed the IRGC cyber hacking campaign against the UK is ongoing and the Post Office and local goverrnment networks were also attacked.

The Iranian assault on Britain’s infrastructure happened on December 23.

The National Cyber Security Centre said it was “aware of a cyber incident affecting some UK organisations in late 2018” and that it was “working with victims and advising on mitigation measures”.
