Major crash on A9 as road closed and emergency services race to scene

Cops have rushed to the scene of a serious road crash on the A9.

The road is closed in both directions at Kilmuir, between Tain and Invergordon.

The alarm was raised around 2.09pm this afternoon.

The north and southern routes of the A9 Dalmore - B9175 is inaccessible to drivers.

Motorists are advised of lengthy delays and are advised to avoid the area.

Emergency services are in attendance.

The condition of those involved is not known at this time.

A police spokesperson said: "The A9 is currently closed between Tain and Invergordon near Knockbreck Road, due to a car accident."

A traffic Scotland bulletin adds: "The A9 at Kilmuir, between Tain and Invergordon, is currently closed in both directions due to a road traffic incident. Road users should allow for longer journey times and follow the local diversion in place."

Local diversions are in place.
