Major Coronation Street production change spotted as Abi returns

Coronation Street fans rejoiced as they spotted a major update in tonight's episode.

Monday's edition of the long-running soap opened with Abi Franklin's dramatic return to the show.

A dishevelled looking Kevin Webster awoke from the sofa to find Abi standing in the living room after she has spent the past few week's missing following Corrie and Kelly's court trial.

Kevin had been concerned for Abi's safety after she stole £2,000 from him before she disappeared.

The Sally Carman played character apologised profusely for her actions and explained the money was for food and drink so she could survive while she was away.

Kevin was in a forgiving mood as he was delighted to see she had returned safely and was even hopeful their marriage may be back on the cards.

The character played by Michael Le Vell gave Abi a hug - and eagle-eyed Coronation Street fans noticed how the embrace marked a change in production.

Since the Coronavirus pandemic hit, the long-running soap had been implementing social distancing regulations and Coronation Street fans on Twitter were thrilled to see another step to normality on tonight's episode.

@Charlotte_K13 said: "Aww, it's lovely to see Abi and Kevin hug, no more socially distanced scenes."

Ben added: "Oh my god, an actual hug!"

Simon commented: "Aw, Kevin & Abbie's hug!"

Mags tweeted : "At last. A “real hug” in #corrie Tyrone must be distraught his storyline with Alina has ended."

Helen said: "Think it’s the first bit of affection I’ve ever seen Abby & Kevin share."

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV and ITVHub
