COMMUTERS on a busy city train line are facing disruption after ScotRail cancelled some services after a lorry crashed into a bridge.

The Highland Main Line has been closed between Aviemore and Inverness after reports that a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) struck a railway bridge near Inverness Railway Station.

The 9.42am Inverness to Edinburgh train will now start at Perth, with stops at Inverness, Aviemore, Kingussie and Pitlochry cancelled.

The incident was reported by Network Rail at 9.46am.

The ScotRail website suggests that the line will remain closed until midday.

A ScoRail spokesperson said: “We've had reports of a HGV lorry stuck under a bridge between Aviemore and Inverness.

“The bridge requires to be examined by our staff before services can pass over the bridge again.”

“Network Rail are enroute to investigate.”
