Major changes on the way as Dublin city streets prepare for outdoor dining

A number of city centre streets will be pedestrianised from Monday to facilitate outdoor dining in Dublin.

Dublin City Council reminded the public about the development that is part of a wider programme being led by the Office Of City Recovery.

Four streets in the capital will be totally or partially traffic-free daily after 11am.

They include Anne Street South from the junction of Dawson Street and South William Street from Exchequer Street to the Brown Thomas car park exit.

Other locations set for changes include Drury Street, from just after its junction with Fade Street to the Drury Street underground car park, and Dame Court from Exchequer Street.

85% of people are also in favour of the pedestrianisation plans for Capel Street, the Council added.

A series of pedestrianisation trials on an incremental basis will begin on weekends from the 25th June for a period of 6 weeks.

From Monday the 24th of May the following four streets will be either traffic-free, or have sections of them traffic-free daily after 11am.

  • Anne Street South from the junction of Dawson Street
  • South William Street from Exchequer Street to the Brown Thomas carpark exit
  • Drury Street from just after its junction with Fade Street to the Drury Street underground carpark
