Major changes going ahead at Nottinghamshire pub to make it place 'everyone can enjoy'

The owners of a village pub have said that recently passed plans will make it a place "everyone can enjoy".

Permission was given on February 17 by Rushcliffe Borough Council for a revamp of the outside space at the Rose and Crown pub in Main Road, Cotgrave.

It will see one pergola built at the front, and another in the rear garden, along with new festoon lighting and AstroTurf.

Post and rope fencing will also be added to the existing car park.

The owners of the pub, which is currently temporarily closed, have said that they are "heavily investing" in the venue.

A spokesperson for Stonegate Pub Partners said: “We are heavily investing in the Rose and Crown in Cotgrave and have recently submitted a planning application to replace the previous structure in the garden with a more permanent heated area that everyone can enjoy throughout the year.

"We are also recruiting for new business partners to take this business forward.”

There had previously been some concerns over the impact of the plans on neighbouring properties but only one objection was made by local residents.

The pub had previously had an application to retain a marquee rejected in 2015 due to noise concerns, but gained permission after an appeal in 2017.

In a report on the decision, a representative for Rushcliffe Borough Council said: "The proposal would be visually acceptable, would not impact on residential amenity and would not be harmful to highway safety.

"There would also be no adverse impact on the character and appearance of the area."
