Major change at Morrisons as new steak and seafood counters open for shoppers

Morrisons customers will find a big change when they visit stores that could help make lockdown a bit more bearable.

People haven’t been able to eat out for more than six weeks, but you could now get restaurant quality food at home, for a bargain price after a trip to the supermarket.

Morrisons has opened new steak and seafood bars selling surplus stock from producers hit by the closure of restaurants.

It means shoppers can pick up items including an 8oz fillet steak for £3.52 or king scallops for 33p.

There will be a range of 20 half price fish and shellfish items, including monkfish, Dover sole and squid.

Morrisons is hoping the move will help British farmers and fishermen, who have suffered after demand fell due to the coronavirus lockdown. Many were left with excess produce to sell, reports the MEN.

David Potts, Chief Executive of Morrisons, said: “We are playing our full part in feeding the nation and providing a home for some of the top-quality meat and seafood that our country produces.

"The opening of these bars will provide restaurant food at knock-out prices."
