Major banks say ‘technical glitch’ allowed people to see other users’ transactions

  • Customers using banking apps for Lloyds, Bank of Scotland, and Halifax reported seeing other users' transaction histories on their accounts.
  • The technical glitch occurred on Thursday morning, with some users able to view transactions from multiple different accounts for a short period.
  • While transactions were visible, Lloyds Banking Group confirmed that customers could not access account numbers or names, and assured that no one had access to other people's accounts.
  • One customer reported seeing benefit payments from the Department of Work and Pensions, which include National Insurance numbers as payment references.
  • Lloyds Banking Group quickly identified and resolved the issue, apologised for the incident, and stated they are reviewing what happened to prevent future occurrences.
