A major Ayrshire road has been closed in both directions following a serious road crash this afternoon.
Police have confirmed that there's no access to the A76 between Crossroads and Crosshands following a two-vehicle smash.
Cops say the route is to be closed for 'some time' and that drivers are being advised to take alternative routes.
Ayrshire Police Division said: "The A76 has been closed in both directions, between Crossroads and Crosshands, following a serious road crash.
"The incident took place around 12.15pm and involves two vehicles.
"The road is expected to be closed for some time and motorists are advised to use alternative routes."
