A major Ayrshire road was brought to a standstill after a driver was spotted on the wrong side of it.
A terrified motorist told today of her shock as drivers narrowly avoided a major accident on the A71 at rush hour last night.
The driver was seen cruising round Coursehill Mount roundabout at around 4.30pm last night – close to Dreghorn crematorium.
It's understood the motorist drove past the off and on ramp for the A71 before driving the wrong way down the exit for Springside.
A driver who witnessed the incident said: "It was absolutely terrifying. The driver just came out of nowhere going the wrong way round the roundabout.
"The road was very busy at that time and it's just something you don't expect to see on a roundabout.
"Traffic was at a standstill for a few minutes so the guy could get off the roundabout the wrong way at Springside.
"I think everyone was very thankful there wasn't an accident as a result of this. I feel very lucky."
