Major Ayrshire restaurant group announces further midweek venue closures

Ayrshire's biggest restaurant group has announced further closures to its venues during the week.

Buzzworks have revealed this evening that hours will also be slashed at some of their most popular venues in the region.

Bosses at the firm cite "staff shortages" as the reason for the drastic move.

The Duke in Kilmarnock has been hit the hardest by the radical changes with the venue closed on a Monday and Tuesday starting tomorrow.

The John Finnie Street eaterie will then be open Wednesday and Thursday 9am to 11pm; Friday to Saturday 9am to 12am; and Sunday 9am to 11 pm.

While Buzzworks' other Kilmarnock venue, The Long House, will operate the following hours: Sunday to Thursday 10am to 10pm; and Friday to Saturday 10am to 12am.

And Stewarton's Mill House will also be open seven days but during the following times: Monday to Thursday 10am to 10:30pm; Friday to Saturday 9am to 12am; and Sunday 9am to 10.30pm.

The Treehouse in Ayr will also be closed on Mondays with remaining hours as follows: Tuesday to Thursday 11am to 11pm; Friday to Saturday 9am to 11pm; and Sunday 10am to 11pm.

It comes hot on the heels of restaurant supremo Kenny Blair announcing that Lido in Prestwick will be closed every Monday in a bid to "protect staff wellbeing and productivity" along with an attempt to "combat staff shortages felt across the hospitality industry."

It was also announced this evening that Lido Prestwick will also be closed on a Tuesday too.

But as the news broke this evening, the firm insisted the move was "temporary".

A statement posted on The Duke's Facebook page reads: "Like many of our friends in the hospitality industry, we are sadly dealing with staff shortages here at The Duke.

"While we continue to recruit for more talented people to join our team, we have decided to temporarily amend our opening hours starting from Monday, August 30.

"We can only apologise for any inconvenience caused and would like to thank you so much for your support and understanding.

"We’d like to assure you this is only a temporary measure and hope to get back to our normal operating hours soon.

"If you have a booking with us on a Monday or Tuesday, please call our team on (01292) 432342 and we’d be more than happy to help.

"If you or someone you know would be interested in joining our amazing team, please get in touch as we’d love to hear from you. For more info on the positions available, head to our website www.belongatbuzzworks.com or WhatsApp Viv on 07514496387."
