Major area of woodland cordoned off after body of woman found

An area of woodland in Bangor has been cordoned off the body of a 39-year-old woman was discovered.

The Caernarfon-based air ambulance landed on Beach Road in the city at around 7pm on Tuesday (June 2(), with a large number of police vehicles and other medics at the scene.

On Wednesday, North Wales Police confirmed that the local was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesman said that the coroner and family have been informed.

A police cordon remains in the area whilst investigations continue.

One witness said forensic investigators were also at the scene along with mountain rescuers.

Detective Chief Inspector Lee Boycott said: “We would like to give our heartfelt sympathies to the family. I understand that the large emergency services presence in the area may have caused concern to local people and would like to thank them for their patience and understanding.”

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesman said they received a call from North Wales Police at 7.10pm.

A spokesman said: "We have now cleared from the scene and have not conveyed anybody to hospital."
