Liverpool middleweight Junior Thompson took his professional record to 4-0 with a comprehensive first round knockout of Russian Vladimir Fleischauer at Manchester's Victoria Warehouse at the weekend.
The Russian visitor had a long losing record but had not been stopped in 11 contests - until Thompson's chilling left hook changed all that after just a minute and 59 seconds of the opening round.
Thompson was buzzing afterwards.
"We've been locked away in the gym working and working, and last night it all paid off," he told his social media followers. "Time to have a little rest, enjoy Christmas and then hit the ground running in January, 2022's gonna be massive."
After a frustrating five months, involving two possible fight dates that fell through, Junior ended the year in style thanks to a slot on the Blackflash Promotions bill.
Pat Barrett and Wayne Smith's promotional arm have also signed Junior to a promotional agreement for next year.
His coach Dee Taggart said: "It's been a tough wee period with a few dates fallen through but Junior has really bitten down and put it in to finish the year in style.
"Pat and Wayne have promised to deliver some big home nights in Liverpool next year.
"Junior has had an amazing amount of support which is really humbling and helped him."
