MAJESTIC photographs of the Barrington Tops brumbies making their way through the snow have captured the magic that many day-trippers experienced over the weekend.
Snow chasers travelled from all over the Hunter Region for a glimpse of the heavy dusting, with many a snowball fight had around Nowendoc, Nundle and further into the Barrington Tops national park.
The brumbies were spotted by photographer Kristina Davidson near Polblue on Saturday.
"It hasn't snowed since last week but it is still quite cold and the sun doesn't have much grunt to it, so the snow has remained," Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Neale Fraser said.
"It will start to warm up a little bit from Tuesday and into Wednesday. It will still be chilly winter conditions but above average temperatures."

A front coming through the region will bring southerly winds and coastal rains by Friday.
There is good news for those who missed out on visiting the winter wonderland over the long-weekend with the Bureau of Meteorology forecasting possible snow for the Tops at the end of the week.
"You need two things for snow, it can be cold enough but you still need the precipitation," he said.
"You need the whole air mass to be cold, not just the surface. From looking at the models, odds are there could be a light dusting at Barrington Tops, with Saturday the best chance."
So far forecasts show a one in three chance of snow on Friday at the Tops, which increases to a 50 per cent chance on Saturday and the snowfall could persist through to Sunday.
