One of Carrington's most significant properties has been listed for sale and interest is expected to be widespread due to its versatile nature.
Brett Bailey, of Ray White Newcastle Lake Macquarie, is marketing 41 Young Street, which he described as "one of a kind".
Maison de May comprises a large-scale terrace and a separate two-storey studio, which Mr Bailey said has been run as one of Newcastle's most awarded Bed and Breakfast sites.
It is positioned on a large corner block in one of Carrington's most popular streets and has been extensively renovated throughout.
When Mr Bailey last sold the property in 2014, it set a suburb sale record for Carrington. That $895,000 mark has since been eclipsed as popularity continues to grow for the harbourside suburb with the $1.27 million exchange of a home in Bourke Street in 2016 now the top.

"The property has got a variety of uses," Mr Bailey said. "It could be used as a very large family home with a studio attached for other family members. It could be rented out as a separate dwelling like it is now or it could be a Bed and Breakfast.
"The property is set up so that the entire terrace can also be used as a Bed and Breakfast because every bedroom has a bathroom. There's a multitude of uses to varying buyers so we're going to put it to auction to find out where the market is at.
"I'd expect interest from Newcastle, Sydney and regional NSW because of the nature of the property."
It is open for inspection Saturday at 11am and set for auction on October 17. A price guide has not yet been set.
