Maisie Smith's mum films scenes for EastEnders after daughter's exit from BBC soap

Maisie Smith's mum Julia has been spotted filming scenes for EastEnders - months after Maisie quit the show.

The actress departed her role as Tiffany Butcher in sad scenes last year after Tiff's split from Keegan (Zack Morris), and she briefly returned to the show earlier this year as part of Keegan's exit from the show.

But now Maisie's mum Julia has been seen working as an extra on location filming for the BBC soap, as she films in the background of scenes with Jean Slate on location in Southend.

In the new snaps, Julia can be seen looking through papers with a colleague as Jean films in a wedding dress.

Julia was seen filming scenes for the BBC One soap as she chatted with another colleague and flicked through papers. She was seen wearing a pair of jeans, with a short red coat on and a matching red bag.

Nearby, Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) was seen filming scenes in a wedding dress amid a huge mental health storyline for the character, as she battles with bipolar disorder and her condition steadily deteriorates.

Maisie quit the BBC soap last year, but returned briefly earlier this year where her character Tiffany learned a huge truth about the end of her romance with Keegan, as the pair vowed to make it work.

As they talked about what happened and Tiffany expressed her anger at her ex for not coming to the tube station and instead just accepting the divorce papers that she had sent him.

"You don't get to look at me like that," she told him, "You were the one who ignored my letter Keegs."

As he looked confused, she revealed what her letter had said - telling him to either post the divorce papers and she'd go, or rip them up and she'd stay - as she admitted she had hoped it would be the latter.

"I didn't get it," he insisted to her, "I'm being serious. All I got was divorce papers, there was no letter."

It was then the pair realised that when she had given Liam the papers, he had taken the note out. Realising the error of both of their ways, the pair shared a sweet kiss before deciding to start a new life in Germany together.
