Maisie Smith announces she will 'absolutely' return to EastEnders in the future

Fans of EastEnders will enjoy hearing Maisie Smith confess she is open to a return to the soap.

The actress, 21, starred as Tiffany Butcher from 2008 until her exit last year, but she has revealed she would "absolutely" come back to the long-running BBC show if asked.

She confessed she doesn't believe anyone really leaves the show after taking up a role as they "always have a place there" even after calling it quits.

Speaking to Inside Soap Magazine, Maisie said: "The moment I left they said to me 'we’re so excited to see what you’re going to do, but you’re always welcome to come back and reunite the family' – and I said, 'absolutely!'

"I said if they ever need me, just call me. I have so much family there with cast and the crew, I don’t think anyone ever really leaves. That’s what is nice about EastEnders. You always have a place there."

As she exited the soap, Maisie shared her "excitement" for her next challenge, saying: "It’s time to say farewell to Tiff. I’ve grown up on EastEnders since 2008, and have learnt from the best over the past 13 years. I’m very excited for my next challenge and thank the BBC for the opportunity they gave me as a six-year-old."

Maisie has been busy since leaving Walford. So far, she has had roles in musical theatre, completed Strictly Come Dancing tours and recently appeared on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins. And now she is reportedly readying herself to venture into the music industry.

It's said Maisie is planning to release music of her own with the help of her boyfriend and The Wanted star Max George.

She left the soap last year after over a decade as Tiffany (BBC/Jack Barnes/Kieron McCarron)

Max, 34, has a host of connections in the world of music and a source told The Sun: "She's made no secret to Max of her desire to try her hand in music and Max has been very encouraging.

"He's enjoyed great success over the years with The Wanted so has plenty of contacts who can help Maisie achieve her goal."

It wouldn't be Maisie's first attempts to crack the industry if she were to give it a go. In 2017, she released an EP titled Where My Heart Is, but unfortunately for the star it failed to hit the charts.
