Maisie Smith admits she picked a photo of herself to get tattooed on Max George

Maisie Smith has admitted she chose the photo of herself to get tattooed on beau Max George.

The EastEnders star, 21 and The Wanted singer, 34, rocked up on Loose Women today to talk about their relationship.

Since going public with their romance in September, Max has tattooed Maisie's face on his arm - along with a lion.

The Strictly star, who looked loved-up with her man, revealed she wasn't going to risk the singer using a 'dodgy' photo.

Speaking to the panel - as a pic of the black and white tat flashed up on screen - Max admitted: "I went in at the deep end, didn't I," before adding: "It's only little though."

However, as the singer rolled up his sleeve to reveal the sizeable inking, the audience gasped as Maisie looked on proudly.

When asked if she knew Max was getting the tattoo, the actress replied honestly: "Well yeah, because I made sure he picked a nice picture.

"He would have been in trouble if it was just some dodgy, candid photo of me. I picked the photo."

Maisie was then asked if she would be returning the favour and getting a tattoo of Max.

"Maybe," she said coyly, before teasing: "It's under construction."

"I wouldn't want to look at me," Max admitted, as the excitable audience chortled.

Host Charlene White, who looked remarkably fresh-faced after her stint in the jungle, gushed: "Well it's certainly a declaration of love. Oh, aren't they lovely guys."

However not everyone agreed Max's tat was a declaration of love, with one viewer tweeting: "That tattoo is a disaster waiting to happen."

While another mused: "That would be an easy tattoo to cover up with the rest of the lion's face when they split up."

However, other fans thought the tribute was adorable as one wrote: "Ignore the haters, these two are cute af together."

While another advised: "Life is too short to be anything but happy. Ignore the hate, it's just jealousy."

Max and Maisie have courted controversy since going public with their romance - largely because of their age gap.

However, they insist age is only a number, pointing out it's how a couple relates to each other which is important.

The pair set tongues wagging last month when Maisie appeared to be wearing an engagement ring.

The couple were sunning themselves on another holiday when the actress shared a pic of her and Max outside their aprartment.

A bit of bling can be seen on Maisie's ring finger, with many eagle-eyes fans wondering if the singer had popped the question.
