Mairead Ronan says she received unwanted date invites from men while taking part in DWTS

Mairead Ronan has told how she received unwanted attention from men who asked her out on dates every week while taking part on Dancing With The Stars.

The 39-year-old mum of three said she didn’t understand why men contacted her knowing she was married and had a newborn baby.

She added: “I was pretty blatant about the fact that I was married with kids.

“I had just had Bonnie before I went on the show so it became a running theme.

“But that didn’t stop some men messaging me constantly.

“I was asked out on dates every week. I get some weird stuff alright.

“I just ignored or blocked them but there were a lot of them.

“I don’t get why you would do that.”

The Today FM host was adamant she did not land the midday prime time show recently just because she was crowned winner of DWTS in March.

She said: “I’ve worked my way through the ranks alright from tea-making to researching to contributing and then producing.

“I have worked in Today FM for all of my career so I am definitely not just being thrown into the slot because of my win on DWTS.

“I am also working on Ireland’s Fittest Families again and I am in training with my dance partner John Nolan again for DWTS live show next month.”

And the Dubliner told the Sunday World magazine she’ll be more at ease while dancing in the INEC in Killarney next month despite “dry-wretching” before the live shows on RTE.

She said: “It was honestly the hardest thing I have ever done. I only have two dances to remember and there are no cameras on me.

“I got so nervous every single week. It didn’t get easier.”
