The Seattle Times Company has put its four Maine newspapers up for sale, saying it needs cash to help its flagship paper survive the drop in advertising revenue. But industry observers predicted the company won't get anything like the $213m (£103m) it paid in 1998 for the three dailies, which include the Portland Press Herald, and a weekly.
