A section of a highway in Los Angeles has been named after former president Barack Obama.
Signs on a stretch of the State Route 134 from Glendale, through Eagle Rock and to Pasadena were unveiled on Thursday.
Mr Obama attended college in Eagle Rock from 1979 to 1981 and lived in Pasadena, according to Time.
The tribute to the president was signed into state law in September 2017.
California is one of the nation’s most liberal states with locals giving Hilary Clinton 61 percent of the vote against Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election, USA Today reports.
It’s not the first location named after the former president.
Last year, a section of the Interstate 55 in Illinois was named Barack Obama Presidential Expressway.
While a road in the Tanzanian city of Dar es Salaam was renamed in honour of his visit in 2013.
And more bizarrely, an extinct lizard was handed the name Obamadon gracilis in tribute to the president.
Earlier this week, a video of Mr Obama playing Santa Claus at a children’s hospital went viral.
He donned a festive santa hat to deliver toys to poorly children at the Children’s National Hospital in Washington DC.
The 57-year-old joined in Christmas carols with staff, parents and children during the much anticipated visit.
