Main road in Longsight closed off by police after two buses damaged

A main road in Longsight has been closed off by police after the windows of two buses were damaged.

Police were called the incident on Stockport Road just before 5pm today (Wednesday).

A GMP spokesperson said officers were called to a report of damage to the windows of two buses.

No-one was injured in the incident on the A6, police said.

The road has been cordoned off by officers and a stretch of it remains closed.

Some bus diversions are in place and people are being asked to take alternative routes.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "At approximately 4:55pm today officers attended a report of damage to the windows of two buses on the A6 Stockport Rd at Longsight.

"There were no one seen upon police attendance a nd there were no reported injuries.

"There are some road closures in place on the A6."

In a tweet, TfGM said: " A6 Stockport Road, road is closed in both directions between Devonshire Street South and Plymouth Grove due to a Police incident.

"Follow @StagecoachGM for bus service updates. Please seek an alternative route."
