Main road closed in south Manchester after two car smash

A main road through south Manchester was closed this afternoon following a two car smash.

The collision happened at the junction of Wilmslow Road and Parkfield Road in Didsbury on Wednesday (April 21).

Transport for Greater Manchester tweeted that motorists should avoid the area.

The post read: "B5095 Wilmslow Road, West Didsbury. Road is closed in both direction at the junction with Parkfield Road South due to an RTC," TfGM said.

"Please use Barlow Moor Road, Palatine Road and Lapwing Lane."

It appeared a silver Corsa was involved in a head-on collision with a blue Ford.

North West Ambulance Service and police responded, but it is believed no one was seriously injured.

An NWAS spokesperson said a call came in at at 13.40 reporting a two car road traffic collision, but it doesn’t appear that medics were required.

GMP have been contacted for comment.

TfGM confirmed Wilmslow Road has since reopened.
