Main road closed in both directions after 'serious' crash

A main road is closed after a "serious" crash.

Merseyside Police has closed Green Lane in Old Swan, near to Guernsey road following reports of a road traffic collision. The force confirmed they received a call around 2.30pm on February 5 and the road has since been closed in both directions.

Police officers are at the scene currently with Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and the North West Ambulance Service. An update from Traffic monitoring network Inrix said: "Green Lane in both directions closed, queueing traffic due to serious accident around Guernsey Road."

It is not yet known how many vehicles have been involved and whether there have been any injuries. The road is currently closed near to Guernsey Motors as eye witnesses say it looks "really bad".

Bus routes have also been impacted with diversions in place. Mersey Travel confirmed the Arriva 62 and 68 services will be subject to delays and diversion. There is currently no timescale for this delay and further updates will follow, it confirmed.
