Expect the Mail on Sunday's sales to rise very soon because of two international initiatives. Today the paper announces that it has made "publishing history" by being the first newspaper to print simultaneously in Britain and Australia. Copies produced on presses in Sydney will be airlifted to other Australian cities, and also to New Zealand. The other sales-winning move, which is expected to be announced soon by its owners, Associated Newspapers, will occur in the Irish Republic. Ireland on Sunday will be dropped in favour of an Irish version of the Mail on Sunday, though a final merged title has yet to be agreed. (Via Sunday Times)
