Maidaan Box Office Collection Day 8: Ajay Devgn's film off to a slow start on second weekend, earns just around Rs 1.15 crore on Thursday

Ajay Devgn's sports drama 'Maidaan' commenced its second week at the box office with modest growth in collections. Despite its release on the festive occasion of Eid last Thursday, the film witnessed a decline in numbers on Day 8.

After earning an estimated Rs. 1.50 crore during the weekdays, 'Maidaan' saw a slight uptick in collections on Wednesday, raking in around Rs. 2 crore. However, Thursday marked a dip in numbers, with the film earning just Rs. 1.15 crore at the box office.

The cumulative 7-day collection of 'Maidaan' stood at an estimated Rs. 27.1 crore nett. With Thursday's earnings, the total collection reached approximately Rs. 28.25 crore, according to sacnilk.com.

Meanwhile, the film's worldwide gross total climbed to an estimated Rs. 39 crore, with overseas earnings reaching around Rs. 6.75 crore. As 'Maidaan' faces no new competition at the box office, industry observers are keen to see if it can achieve the coveted Rs. 50 crore mark over the weekend.

'Maidaan' has been contending with stiff competition from the Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff starrer 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan'. Despite both films enjoying an extended Eid weekend, the festive holiday failed to significantly boost box office numbers.

Directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, 'Maidaan' offers a poignant portrayal of Syed Abdul Rahim's unwavering dedication to football, a narrative that resonates deeply with audiences. Ajay Devgn delivers a compelling performance as Rahim, supported by a talented ensemble cast including Priyamani, Gajraj Rao, and Rudranil Ghosh.
