Broadcaster and author Maia Dunphy has opened up about her "very unconventional" relationship with husband Johnny Vegas following their brief split last year.
The couple announced they were splitting up in May last year before rekindling their romance in December.
Maia revealed she and comedian Johnny are forced to spend time apart due to him being based in London while she brings up their young son Tom, four, in Dublin.
The former Dancing With The Stars contestant revealed: “Things are the way they always were. Life is complicated.
"People don’t understand it and try to put a label on it."

She told The Irish Sun:“It’s work. Myself and Tom were just over in London for two weeks as Johnny was filming Open All Hours in a studio there and it’s rare he’s in one place for that amount of time.
“It’s the nature of the business. You go where the work takes you.
“His son Michael was just doing his GCSEs so he had to be there. Life is just complicated."
"There’s so many permutations and combinations of families now. You just have to make it work."
Maia added that although parenting Tom by herself can be challenging sometimes, she is enjoying every minute.
She said: "His dad is based in London so between potty training and learning to ride a bike, it’s busy - but I love doing it.
And she's hoping to pack in as much fun as possible before Tom starts school next year.
She said: “I’ve got one more year before he starts school so I’m hoping to do lots of fun things with him before we’re tied into a strict routine. The time goes so quickly.”
