MUMBAI: The All India Mahila Empowerment Party chief and entrepreneur Nowhera Shaik has said that she would turn the old Hyderabad city in to "gold". Shaik had earlier announced that she would contest the 2024 Lok Sabha election from the city of Hyderabad against sitting MP and All India Majlise Ittihadul Muslameen head Asaduddin Owaisi.
"A lot of people have made enquiries if they heard right that I am going to contest from old Hyderabad in 2024.Yes, you head right. I will be fighting against Asaduddin Owaisi and I am sure the voters will elect me as they want a change," she said.
She further said that, if elected, she would change the face of old Hyderabad. "The old Hyderabad will be turned in to gold Hyderabad.Job opportunities for youths will be created. The dirty lanes and clogged drains will be cleaned. We will bring in funds and develop infrastructure which the old city has been kept deprived of," she said.
She said that her party would do well in the Telangana elections and other elections elsewhere in the country. She hoped All India Mahila Empowerment Party's cadre would work hard and reach out to the deprived sections of the state and the country. She resolved to work for the poor, youth, women and other needy people.
She accused Owaisi who has represented Hyderabad multiple times in the Lok Sabha of doing little for the growth of the city which is in a shambles due to creaking infrastructure.
TOI asked Owaisi to respond but could not get a response from him to Shaik's statement where she blamed him for keeping his constituency backward.
Shaik also said that she would try to empower women through various development schemes. Since her party is named Mahila Empowerment, its chief envisions to carry out programmes and policies focussed on the development of women.
