#Mahashivratri! Not many know that I have played Lord Shiv in a film, says Arun Govil who is best known as TV's Ram

It's Mahashivratri today and people are celebrating the festival with with much fervour. On the occasion, Arun Govil, best known as small screen's Ram, tells us about playing Mahadev in a film. This was after he played Ram in the early 80s in the TV show Ramayan.

He says, "This was about two decades ago. The entire nation knew me as Ram, but the makers thought I will be a good choice to play Shiv and I acted in the film Shiv Mahima in 1992. It did did mediocre business at that time. But I am happy that the makers were convinced that I could play Lord Shiva."

Govil adds, "I am not sure if people remember me in that role because I am more known as Ram."

Talking about Mahashivratri today and his plans, he said, "On Shivji's Shivratri, I am travelling to meet Lord Krishna at Vrindavan, so I am unable to fast today. But, otherwise I regularly fast and do puja at home. And not just on Mahashivaratri but everyday I do Shiv puja at home. I am looking forward to my trip to Vrindavan. I am going there with my family."

Govil became a household name when he played Ram in Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan in the 80s. The actor had shared in an earlier interview how he had a huge connect with masses. He said, "It's true that people almost worshipped and even fell my feet due to my reel image. But, at the end of the day people knew that it was a role."
